It is very difficult for candidates who have done M. Sc. (Ag) in Plant Physiology or Genetics and Plant Breeding to get the post of teacher in Botany. I faced such difficulty when West Bengal regional School service Commission, Northern Region denied to accept my Post Graduate degree and considered me as B. Sc. Hons. in Botany. There are two very clear Government circulars regarding this matter, one is No. 1484-Edn(S) dated 19.12.1991 from the Assistant Secretary to the Govt. of West Bengal, Secondary Education Branch where it is clarified that the candidates are entitled to get hte P.G. scale of pay.
